Canceled: The 64th JSAEZ annual meeting
Due to the spread of new coronavirus infections, the 64th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology, which will be held at Meijo University on March 15-17, 2020, has been decided to be canceled. This depends on consultation between the board and the secretariat.
- - Abstracts of the annual meeting will be sent to you as scheduled.
- - The annual meeting is considered to have been held. The oral session, Poster session, Workshops and other Seminars described in the abstract will be treated as being announced at the scheduled annual meeting.
- - The participation fee will not be refunded.
- - We will inform you of the banquet fee and the refund of the March 15 lunch (only for advance applicants) at a later date.
- - Methods for holding General meetings, Commendation ceremony, and Memorial lectures by the awardees are currently under consideration. The result will be notified to you again.

DO NOT take photographs or record video of any oral presentations or posters by the camera or smartphone.

Presentation guidelines
- 1. Please send in an entry for the annual meeting via the internet.
- 2. Only one presentation is allowed, ether the oral one or a poster.
- 3. Presenters must pay the annual membership fee for 2020.
- 4. Non-members who want to present, need to become members of the society. Membership application (including re-registration of the previously withdrawn members) and payment are due by Tuesday December 24, 2019. Oral presentations
Presentation style
All participants need to prepare their presentations for a time slot of 15 minutes, including approximately 3 minutes for questions and discussions. Sounds of a bell will inform you about the elapsed times from the start of your presentation; the first at 10, the second at 12 and the final at 15 minutes. Please, follow strictly the instructions.
Please, visit your session room no later than 30 minutes prior to your presentation. When your precedent presentation has started, connect your PC to the projector.
Each presenter should chair the next presentation after his/her presentation. A member of the organizing committee will take the chair of the first presentation.
Please use your own laptop computer for your presentation. If you can project your presentation images to screen with normal liquid-crystal projector, PC model and software are not limited. Your laptop computer can only be connected to the projector with VGA connector (mini D-sub15 pin). Usage of HDMI is possible, but we require a few minutes to connect.
Please prepare a backup file formatted PDF on CD or DVD of your presentation in advance, in case anything goes wrong.
Because preview room is not provided for speakers, please check your presentation file at the session room before and after presentation hours.
English Presentation Award
Aims of the English Presentation Award
Recently, research presentation in English has become a more important subject in the rapid progression of globalization. To promote English presentations and give opportunities for communication with international students and visiting researchers to the AEZ annual meeting, the English Presentation Award is set up in the current meeting.
Eligibility
The eligibility is limited to JSAEZ members under 40 years old who have not received a Ph.D. or who have received their Ph.D. no more than 3 years at the time to entry.
Deadline of application
Applications for presentations: 17:00 (JST), Wednesday December 25, 2019.
Please choice category No. 28: English oral presentation, the second choice is 28-2, and the third choice 28-3.
Judgement criteria
A few judges are assigned in each session.
All presentations are judged and scored based on the quality of the research (50%) and the quality of the presentation (50%). Outstanding award and the excellent award will be awarded to the first and the second-placed presenters.
An award ceremony will be held at 14:00, March 17.
Poster session
- Poster Size:
- Poster must be contained within the 90 cm (width) x 180 cm (height) space provided.
- Set up:
- Your poster must be placed in the assigned numbered space in the rooms of 5th floor of the venue, in the morning of March 16.
- Core time of poster presentations:
- Presenters of posters with odd and even numbers are assigned specific times to be present at their posters. Presenters of posters with odd numbers take 13:00 - 14:00 on March 16, and ones with even numbers take 14:00 - 15:00 on March 16. All presenters take 13:00 - 14:00 on March 17. Presenters are expected to be available at their displays during the core time slot for questions and discussion.
- Poster Removal:
- Posters should be removed promptly between 14:00 - 15:00 PM on March 17. Please do not remove your poster before the close of the scheduled viewing time.
- Eligibility is limited to student members.
- Each poster display is judged independently by all councils of the JSAEZ.
- An award ceremony will be held at 14:00, March 17.
